BSOD code 124 -problem solved
I've had random Code 124 ( hardware) crashes since about the time I installed the Win 7 RC. Vista on the same system also had the same problem, but not as often. Never happened when I was gaming, only when I was lightly using the PC. I've been swapping
components, but I finally figured it out and thought I would post for others who had similar symptoms. My system is a Phenom II 9600 on a gigabyte motherboard with the AMD 770 chipset.
Anyhow this issue turns out to be the powersaving mode. It looks like when it would lower the voltage to the CPU, it wouldn't be able to properly execute some commands. I initially resolved the problem by adding 0.025V additional volts to the CPU, alternatively
it can also be resolved by disabling the the CPU suspend mode.

- Create a brand new DWORD Value that is named AllowOsUpdate
- Set the Value to 0x00000001.
- Close and reopen your Control Panel.
